Ceci n’est pas un projet
Prossima Apertura is an open construction site for the collective production of space and sociality.
Prossima Apertura is the name of the urban regeneration process of the Toscanini neighborhood in Aprilia. The word regeneration comes from the Latin genus generis, that means birth. Urban regeneration hence means generating a new urbanity. Because urbanity is a collective production, its regeneration has to be the result of collective actions and efforts.
This is the starting point of every project of the collective Orizzontale, that has been leader of the project. Urbanity is the sum of the built fabric and of the social fabric. These two are intersecting textures. If the built fabric is rehabilitated, it does not mean that the social fabric is rehabilitated too. When we speak of urban regeneration, we should speak about projects, or processes, that allow the social fabric to flourish.
